Questions

Got a question? We’ve got the answers! At Instant Skips, we aim to make skip hire as simple and stress-free as possible. Below, you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about our skip hire services, including pricing, delivery, waste types, and more.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to contact us, and our team will be happy to assist you!

The standard hire period for skips is 14 days unless otherwise arranged. On the 14th day, our providers may collect the skip. If you need to extend the hire period, please contact your skip provider to make the necessary arrangements.

For skips located on public highways, our providers remove them when the permit expires, even if this occurs before the 14-day period ends. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for skips removed before they are fully used, so it's important to keep your skip proivder informed if you require more time.

Our providers will attempt to notify you before collecting your skip, but this cannot be guaranteed. To avoid any inconvenience, please ensure you contact them promptly if there are any changes to your schedule.

Your waste will be taken away and correctly processed, according to UK legislation, at our skip providers' facilities.

It is illegal to overfill your skip. To ensure safe transport, make sure the skip's contents do not extend above the sides. Skips that are overfilled will not be collected.

If you have any doubts, consult the driver before you start loading your skip.

In 2009, new legislation was introduced for the disposal of plasterboard. As a result, gypsum (the primary material in plasterboard) must now be separated from biodegradable waste.

Plasterboard can be included in small quantities if it is bagged and placed on top of the skip without exceeding the skip's capacity. If plasterboard is mixed with other waste, our skip provider will be unable to collect the skip.

Please inform your provider immediately if you need to dispose of plasterboard and did not specify this during your order. Our providers can provide a bag to accommodate your needs.

For straightforward deliveries, your presence is not required. However, if a delivery attempt fails, a wasted journey charge may apply. If you won’t be present, ensure that you provide detailed delivery instructions, contact information, and remain reachable.

Similarly, for collections, you don’t need to be present as long as the skip is accessible and properly filled. Ensure there’s enough room for a lorry to maneuver, and that there are no obstructions like parked cars. The skip should not be overfilled and must not contain prohibited waste. If the pick-up fails due to improper filling, overloading, or lack of access, a wasted journey fee will be charged.
